VASEN has been busy this season! We’ve invested time and care into our network and regional efforts in various ways. Here’s a few things we’ve been up to:
- Connecting our book club to Harrisonburg politics around yard maintenance

- Progressing the efforts in Richmond to build out a participatory budgeting model

- Using Miro to present a virtual map of past and present connections in our network

- Hosting February and May learn-ins on bookkeeping and mutual aid
- Hosting network calls where we shared needs and offers, regional event information across the state, and plans for the next few months and years within the VASEN membership base
- Secured funding for network field trips and in-person events
Here are our upcoming calendar events:
June 5th: General Assembly bill HB528, to protect natural landscapes from HOAs,
will be discussed by the Local Land Use and Community Living work group
of the Virginia Housing Commission Wednesday at 10:00 am. The bill as
written has a fatal flaw and support is needed to get it fixed,
including through in-person presence at the hearing and through

July 7th: Book club call at 2 pm EST – we will review the fifth and final section of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer
July 9th-11th: New Economy Coalition Annual Member Calls
